Military families may now send video messages

Wednesday, December 6, 2006

The Central Plains Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring "Project Home Link". Military families have the opportunity to communicate "face-to-face" by creating personal video messages sent by e-mail. The messages will be sent free of charge using VIDITalk, a video-messaging program, created by VIDISoloutions.

In a matter of minutes, military personnel and their families can record and send a message that can be viewed anywhere in the world. The message reaches its recipient via email and can be viewed or re-sent over any broadband connection. Families need to bring the email address of the military person with therm when they come to record their two minute message.

Video messages will be recorded, by appointment at the Central Plains Red Cross office, 404 East Thrid Street in Grand Island. Appointments can be made by calling (308) 382-3790 or toll free 1-888-382-3790 between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Central Plains Chapter in Grand Island.

Past video messages featured the first video of a new baby, local cheerleaders sending a message to a brother in the service, generations of a family gathering for a heart-warming message and a video message that included the family dog.

For more information, please contact the Central Plains Chapter at 308-382-3790.
